2023 V8 SuperUte Series Round 5 – Bendix Racing Round Wrap-Up
The fifth stop 2023 V8 SuperUte Series saw Dave Casey and team Bendix Racing head to Bathurst, NSW for the 2023 Repco Bathurst 1000 with the famed circuit that is Mount Panorama hosting four races of the series across the weekend. The iconic 6.2km-long track is a bucket list item for many, with Dave keen for his second Superutes excursion on the mountain and first in the 2023 Bendix Racing D-Max SuperUte.
Thursday would kick off the big weekend with a practice session to help Dave reacquaint himself with the goliath that is Mount Panorama. Dave would show good pace throughout the session, ending with the 8th fastest lap of the pack thanks to a 2m32.86s best time. Qualifying for the weekend would follow later that morning, with Dave managing to shave his best time down to 2m31.98s for a P10 qualifying result.
The green lights would go out on Race 1 on Friday morning and would kickstart a weekend of outstanding results. Starting from P10, Dave would climb the pack throughout the 6-lap affair and cross the finish line firmly on the top ten with a P7 race result.
Saturday would feature Race 2 and 3 of the Bathurst round and would tell a similar story. Dave would continue to set a consistent pace throughout the day, fighting through the Superute grid to a pair of respective P7 results for both of Saturday’s races.
The final Superutes race of the weekend would kick away in the early hours of Sunday morning and would see Dave knock out yet another P7 finish to round out Bendix Racing’s Bathurst outing. The weekend’s culminated efforts saw Dave earn an impressive P7 outright result for the round.
