Dave “Mudflap” Casey, hailing from Rockhampton, is a prominent Australian motorsport driver and enthusiast known for his versatility across multiple racing disciplines.
As the owner and driver of SWL Racing, Dave has built a strong reputation competing in categories including Touring Car Masters, the SuperUtes Series, and Stadium Super Trucks.
SWL Racing — standing for “Stockers With Lockers” — was founded in 2009 when Dave and a group of mates entered a three-car competition with little more than basic equipment and plenty of passion.
The name originated from their early days running mostly stock-standard four-wheel drives fitted with air lockers. Since then, the team has grown into one of Queensland’s most recognised and widely followed motorsport teams across circuit racing, off-road racing, drag racing, and burnout events.
Dave’s passion for motorsport is reflected in his wide range of high-performance vehicle builds and racing projects.
These include a 600HP Suzuki Sierra powered by a turbocharged 13B rotary engine capable of 10-second quarter-mile passes, an LS-powered HZ skid ute, a 600HP LSA-powered VY Calais show car, and his iconic HDT Commodore competing in Touring Car Masters competition.
Whether it’s circuit racing, drag racing, burnouts, or off-road events, Dave’s versatility behind the wheel has made him a standout figure in Australian motorsport culture.
Away from racing, Dave is also an ambassador for Rockynats, where he plays a major role in the event’s operation and annually hosts the popular SWL 4x4 Zone. His involvement in the automotive community extends well beyond the racetrack, helping grow grassroots motorsport and car culture throughout Australia.
Dave has also featured on podcasts including Rusty’s Garage and The Deadass Podcast, where he shares insights into his racing journey, vehicle builds, and future ambitions in motorsport.
Through SWL Racing, Dave “Mudflap” Casey continues to push the limits of racing, performance, and entertainment while inspiring a growing community of motorsport fans across Australia.
Thank you for joining me on this ride.
Cheers,
Dave Casey
