Dave Casey Braves Mount Panorama at the 2022 Bathurst 1000

T

he fifth stop on the 2022 Haltech V8 SuperUte Series saw Dave Casey and the team head to Bathurst, NSW for the 2022 Bathurst 1000. The famed course that is Mount Panorama hosted four races of the series across the weekend. The iconic 6.2km-long track is a bucket list item for many, with Dave keen for his first excursion in the Bendix ULT4WD SuperUte.

‍

Thursday

The SuperUtes action kicked away on Thursday morning with a practice session to get familiar with the track layout, which saw Dave land in the top ten, with the 10th fastest lap of the pack. Qualifying for the weekend took place later in the afternoon, with Dave scoring a P11 result, giving him a fair bit of work to do throughout the rest of the weekend.

Friday

The team was thankfully treated to some dry weather to kick off Friday’s festivities, with Race 1 of the weekend scheduled that morning. After 6 hard-fought laps around the Mountain, Dave managed to bring the ULT4WD SuperUte across the line to a P11 result. Improvements and good pace shown in the first outing set the stage for even better results as the weekend went on.

Saturday

Saturday was a two-race affair for the SuperUtes with Race 2 kicking away in the morning. The rain held off once again, and despite a messy start to the race, Dave managed to etch out a spot in the Top Ten with a P9 result. Race 3 later in the day told a similar story, with the rain holding off, and Dave crossing the line in P9 after a chaotic race start.

Sunday

Sunday morning hosted Race 4, the last outing for the weekend. Thanks to treacherous track conditions, Dave’s main goal for the race was to keep the ULT4WD SuperUte on the track. Despite that, Dave managed to knock out his best result for the weekend, earning a P8 finish.

‍

The weekend’s culminated efforts saw Dave earn an impressive P7 outright result. This puts him in P6 on the Championship leaderboard with 714 points.

‍

The 2022 Haltech V8 SuperUte Series returns in two weeks’ time when the team heads to Queensland for the final round of the series, the 2022 Gold Coast 500, running from October 28th – 30th.
